About the Role
Arbor Neuroscience is seeking an individual to manage the organization's operations and tackle undefined problems, working directly with the CEO. This role involves managing the operational backbone, including HR, contracts, and vendor relations, as well as taking on strategic initiatives and problem-solving that lack a clear owner.
Responsibilities
- Interface with Convergent Research on finance, HR, contract, and vendor relations
- Run recruiting, including sourcing, scheduling, candidate experience, and onboarding
- Own the operational side of partnerships with hardware and research collaborators
- Prepare board materials, funder reports, and proposal packages, and track commitments
- Set up internal systems, processes, and documentation
- Take on open-ended problems such as evaluating opportunities, researching questions, and unblocking projects
- Help build Arbor’s culture
Requirements
- Evidence of building a successful operational system where none existed
- Judgment to determine when a system is needed versus direct handling
- Strong writing ability
- Technical curiosity and knowledge to follow scientific or engineering conversations
- Direct communication style without friction
- Desire to learn about neuroscience
- Experience running operations or business functions at a startup, research institute, or lab
- Experience as a strong generalist in a startup, research group, investment firm, or policy, program, or consulting role
- Willingness to take on organizational leadership

- $159,000 - $183,000 a year
