Responsibilities

Provide RAM leadership and guidance to clients on rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and signalling projects.
Offer consulting services and act as a trusted contributor to project requirements from a RAMS Engineering perspective.
Undertake BS EN 50126 RAM activities, including RAM plans, Functional Analysis, Functional Block Diagrams, reliability/availability apportionment, predictions and modelling, FMECAs, Fault Tree Analysis / Reliability Block Diagram, DRACAS, and maintainability analyses.
Collaborate with team members to manage project risk minimization and enhance project integration/delivery.
Project manage staff, directly manage sub-contractors, support junior RAM members, and provide mentorship.
Act as the focal point for technical expertise and guidance.
Ensure full management and delivery of projects while developing and managing strategic client relationships.
Support RAM and safety activities in other sectors, and provide input to proposal writing and tender submissions.
Encourage and promote innovation and implementation of new techniques and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the System Engineering, Integration and Assurance (SEIA) Group.
Promote the WSP brand to secure business opportunities through active involvement with industry partners and professional engineering institutions.
Participate in councils, committees, and working groups to promote technical excellence in RAMS.
Write and present papers at conferences and events.

Requirements

A degree in a technical engineering related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
RAM engineering experience (rail desirable, but not essential).
Corporate membership with an appropriate professional institution (e.g. SaRS, IET, IMechE).
Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer or significant progression towards it.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership to a team of RAM and Safety Engineers.
Proven ability to support RAM and Safety engineering activities and/or arguments to clients, acceptance/approval, and regulatory authorities in the UK (international experience desirable).
Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of BS EN 50126 RAM activities throughout the life cycle of rail projects.
Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Extensive knowledge and experience in a mainline or metro railway discipline (e.g., Signalling, Control Systems, Traction Power, Depots).
