About the Role

The Marketing Engineer is an applied-AI builder within the marketing team, responsible for shipping AI systems that perform marketing tasks such as research, content production, and lead automation. This is a hands-on engineering role that also involves ownership of the website, HubSpot instance, and analytics stack to enhance team output through systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate production AI agents for SEO research, competitive monitoring, content drafting and repurposing, design production, lead enrichment, and inbound triage.
  • Integrate LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) using tool calling, structured output, and retrieval over brand and product knowledge, orchestrated in n8n, Zapier, or custom services.
  • Define human-in-the-loop processes and build review/rollback paths for autonomous output.
  • Own reliability and unit economics, including monitoring, error handling, API cost tracking, and model selection.
  • Build evaluation metrics and test cases for AI agents, covering accuracy, brand voice, and factual grounding.
  • Version prompts and models for traceability and reversibility, and A/B test generated content against human baselines.
  • Set internal guidelines for AI-generated marketing content, including review of tax-related claims.
  • Own technical SEO (metadata, redirects, structured data, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals) and extend it to AI search.
  • Build content pipelines for generating, refreshing, and internally linking pages at scale with quality gates.
  • Track brand visibility and citation share across AI assistants and traditional search.
  • Build and maintain marketing sites, landing pages, and conversion flows in TypeScript, React, and Next.js on a headless CMS.
  • Ship AI-native site experiences measured on conversion, such as assistive search, guided qualification, and personalization.
  • Maintain website performance, reliability, analytics, and search functionality during launches and updates.
  • Own HubSpot forms, workflows, and lifecycle logic, and integrations with product, warehouse, and internal services.
  • Apply models for lead scoring, intent detection, routing, enrichment, and personalized lifecycle messaging.
  • Identify and fix root causes of workflow issues.
  • Maintain event tracking (Google Tag Manager, PostHog) and clean marketing data in BigQuery.
  • Build dashboards for acquisition, funnel performance, and campaign outcomes.
  • Report AI system performance in terms of output volume, quality scores, cost per output, and hours saved.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in web development, marketing engineering, or marketing operations.
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS skills.
  • React, Next.js, and Node.js proficiency required.
  • Demonstrated experience building with LLMs beyond chat use: API integration, prompt engineering, tool calling, structured outputs, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Working knowledge of agent patterns and their failure modes.
  • Experience with workflow automation (n8n, Zapier, or comparable) and with REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot or a comparable CRM and marketing-automation platform.
  • Experience with analytics and tracking (Google Tag Manager, PostHog).
  • Experience with technical SEO tools (Semrush, Ahrefs, Search Console).
  • Familiarity with SQL, BigQuery, and marketing attribution.
  • Comfortable with modern CMS and hosting stacks (Sanity, Vercel).
  • Ability to translate Figma designs into responsive pages.
  • Proficiency in Git-based development, staged deployment, and clear communication with technical and nontechnical partners.
