About the Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Weave, you will drive the scaling of our robot production. You will design stations, fixtures, and processes for machining, harness fabrication, actuator subassembly, final assembly, and end-of-line test, ensuring speed, repeatability, and quality. You will collaborate closely with the Production team to bridge the gap between engineering design and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Own process transitions from prototype to production, including 3D printing to injection molding, machining to die casting or stamping, and hand-cut fabric prototypes to tooled and sewn softgoods production.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) by reviewing and redlining part designs with design engineers for target processes.
- Own tooling by specifying, quoting, and qualifying molds, dies, and fixtures, managing timelines and first articles.
- Qualify suppliers by selecting and developing vendors for various part types and driving corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
- Model costs and track throughput, maintaining per-part and per-process cost models and monitoring production against KPIs.
- Support the manufacturing floor by designing fixtures and improving assembly processes for transitioned parts.
- Manage bridge production by ensuring parts flow on old processes while new ones qualify and executing clean cutovers.
Requirements
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience taking electromechanical or consumer products from prototype into volume manufacturing.
- Hands-on DFM experience across at least three of the following: injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, stamping/sheet metal, additive manufacturing, softgoods/sewn products.
- Experience specifying and qualifying production tooling and managing first articles.
- Experience quoting, selecting, and managing part suppliers.
- Ability to defend tooling decisions with break-even calculations.
- Solid modeling and drawing review proficiency in SolidWorks, OnShape, or similar, with GD&T.
