About the Role

Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area, serving 1,500 youth annually. Responsibilities

Screen applications and interview clients.
Conduct weekly visits and check-ins with clients and hotel management.
Ensure property upkeep.
Document agreements, contracts, and evictions.
Maintain the budget and positive relationships with hotels and clients.
Calculate damages and key deposits, and manage post-client exit procedures.
Act as a liaison between clients and hotel management.
Ensure clients maintain points of engagement while in services.
Engage successfully with a diverse client population presenting with various issues.
Handle crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and assist clients in processing social and emotional problems.
Practice life skills training for youth through modeling, active counseling, motivational interviewing, and group facilitation.
Promote community wellness through a harm reduction approach.
Ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, volunteers, and the facility.
Maintain facility cleanliness and operations, including meal preparation, bathroom cleaning, and storage area maintenance.
Collect client information through intake and assessment, enter data into paper and electronic systems, and coordinate with other professional sources.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance counselor skill levels.
Collaborate with staff and other agencies to ensure a continuum of services for clients.
Act as an advocate and point person for new youth entering the Lark-Inn.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.
Embody values and core strategies: Client-Centered, Trauma Informed Care, Restorative Practices, Harm Reduction, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing.
Some direct-services or social service experience.
Experience working in drop-in services, shelter, transitional, and/or permanent supportive housing programs is a plus.
Excited to serve Transitional Aged Youth (TAY), aged 18 to 25 of diverse backgrounds.
Self-starter and team player.
Colleagues describe you as compassionate, dependable, and patient.
Willing to work holidays occasionally.
Hold a valid driver's license.
All City and County of San Francisco employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
