About the Role
This role is for a People Operations Coordinator at Open Farm, a fast-growing CPG company focused on ethically sourced pet food. The coordinator will support various HR functions, people programs, and office management, ensuring Open Farm is a great place to work.
Responsibilities
- Help run wellness, benefits, performance, and recognition programs.
- Support RRSP and 401(k) administration.
- Lead Co-op/Summer Student recruitment and manage grant paperwork.
- Coordinate interviews across departments, managing calendars with hiring managers and panels.
- Administer health benefits.
- Prepare reports and letters (headcount, employment confirmations, comp statements, travel letters).
- Own and maintain the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy.
- Support the employee journey from onboarding to offboarding.
- Support the employee survey program through CultureAmp.
- Plan company events, including monthly Town Halls.
- Contribute fresh ideas to programs and policies.
- Write the People Ops newsletter and other employee communications.
- Help run Open Farm University.
- Maintain office cleanliness, safety, and welcoming environment.
- Manage office vendors (cleaning, maintenance, supplies).
- Stock supplies, snacks, and equipment.
- Set up new hires with necessary resources for their first day.
- Address office maintenance issues.
- Assist with health and safety compliance.
Requirements
- A love of pets.
- Empathy and strong people skills.
- Proactive approach to tasks.
- Comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments.
- Ability to take ownership and follow through.
- Skill in managing multiple priorities and people simultaneously.
- Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Quick learning ability for new systems and tools (HRIS, CultureAmp, scheduling platforms).
- Attention to detail, particularly in data accuracy and compliance.
- Willingness to perform diverse tasks and adapt to changing needs.
- Interest in company culture and employee experience beyond administrative tasks.
- Experience with both Canadian and US HR practices is a plus.
