About the Role

UMGC seeks adjunct faculty to teach Artificial Intelligence and Computer Information Technology in Japan. The role involves engaging students, guiding learning, providing feedback, and demonstrating subject-matter expertise.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Information Technology, Data Science and Analytics or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Information Technology, Data Science, and Data Analytics.
• Local applicants only.
• Adjunct faculty positions are not eligible for UMGC sponsored logistical support.
• Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.
• Resume/Curriculum Vitae submission required.
• Unofficial transcripts for all conferred graduate degrees with conferral date (or credential evaluations) required.
• Official transcripts are part of the selection process.
• If degrees were earned from an institution(s) outside the US: UMGC requires a 3rd party credit evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.
• Must successfully complete online new faculty orientation, FacDev 122, as a condition of hire.

Salary/Compensations

• Non-PhD: Step 1 $903 - Step 16 $1,173 per credit hour
• PhD: Step 1 $931 - Step 16 $1,215 per credit hour

Adjuncts are only eligible for State of Maryland benefits and are responsible for the total cost if enrolled.

• Supplemental Retirement Plans: include 403(b), 457(b), and various Roth options. The university does not provide matching funds.
