About the Role
Arcadis Professional Services (Canada) Inc. is seeking an experienced O&M Remediation Environmental Field Technician / Technologist to join our Resilience team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This role supports local remediation and environmental projects, focusing on the operation and maintenance of large groundwater remediation and treatment systems.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute tasks assigned by Project Managers related to environmental project delivery.
- Oversee operation and maintenance activities for groundwater remediation treatment systems.
- Complete routine and scheduled system inspections.
- Perform preventative maintenance and part replacements.
- Execute groundwater compliance sampling and ongoing monitoring programs.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues associated with treatment system performance.
- Oversee compliance monitoring activities to ensure systems operate in accordance with regulatory approvals and project requirements.
- Support environmental site assessments, risk assessments, and remediation projects.
- Conduct site visits and inspections.
- Monitor and supervise drilling and remediation activities.
- Prepare field notes, safety forms, daily field reports, and laboratory forms.
- Collect soil and groundwater samples.
- Support data tabulation.
- Contribute to the preparation of environmental reports.
Requirements
- Resourceful and able to solve problems in the field.
- Experience with operations and maintenance of remediation treatment systems and associated mechanics and plumbing.
- Strong understanding of field protocols including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling.
- Experience overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks (i.e., O.Reg.153).
- Diligent interpretation of environmental data.
- Comparison of sample results to applicable guidelines and standards.
- Strong adherence to health and safety standards and policies.
- Preparation of reports documenting the results of inspection and/or investigation programs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with regulators, stakeholders, and internal Arcadis staff.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle are required.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
