About the Role
Product Managers at Perplexity focus on product systems and experiences that help users discover, adopt, and gain lasting value from Perplexity. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and writing skills, the ability to envision innovative technology, and a desire to reimagine work for increased efficiency and creativity. Candidates should combine product intuition with analytical rigor, highlighting growth problems, experiments, or loops they are proud of building.
Responsibilities
- Own the upsell roadmap, building new levers and iterating on existing ones to drive metrics.
- Run onboarding experiments to accelerate new users' first successful outcome.
- Build personalized recommendations to drive deeper usage.
- Own upgrade flows to drive paid conversion, free to paid upgrades, and paid credit purchases.
- Drive adoption of new features, managing visibility and measuring retention and paid usage.
- Drive cross-device conversion by encouraging web users to adopt mobile and desktop apps.
- Analyze funnels, cohorts, and segments to identify high-leverage opportunities and define metrics.
- Maintain guardrails on retention, support volume, and margin while improving conversion.
- Write clear specifications, tickets, and experiment briefs, coordinating execution across teams.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of total work experience with a strong academic record.
- Approximately 2 years in investment banking, strategy consulting, or a comparable high-intensity analytical role, followed by operating experience (e.g., growth or product role at a startup, or founding a company).
- Extremely analytical and fluent in SQL.
- Comfortable with experiment design and statistical readouts.
- Segment-native thinking, understanding user journeys, personas, and behavioral triggers.
- Strong product taste, discerning between helpful and annoying upsells and considering second-order effects.
- High velocity, comfortable managing parallel experiments and switching between analysis, spec-writing, and shipping.
- Bias to action, low ego, high ownership, and thriving in ambiguous environments.
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms (e.g., Eppo, Statsig, Optimizely, or in-house equivalents).
- Experience with subscription and usage-based billing products, paywalls, or paid upgrade experimentation.
- Experience shipping across web and native mobile surfaces.
