About the Role
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for technical and clerical functions in the assigned area. All rotations include responsibility for continuous quality improvement and workload measurement.
Responsibilities
- Transporting medications and picking up prescriptions
- Pre-packaging
- Preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds
- Stock replenishment
- Filling prescriptions
- Quality assurance activities including expiry date checking, medication storage area inspections, audits, and gathering patient information
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician program graduates awaiting registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Minimum of 1 year related experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers, and the public
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices
- Excellent work performance and attendance record
Skills
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience with unit dose drug distribution systems and IV admixture services
- Ability to speak another language
