About the Role
Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Cook 1 for the new Barton Creek Resort & Spa. This role involves efficiently preparing food items according to company specifications, maintaining safe food handling procedures, and understanding large-scale food production. Responsibilities
- Efficiently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and to company specifications with limited supervision.
- Maintain safe food handling procedures at all times.
- Understand large scale food production and the time required to complete tasks.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation in accordance with health department guidelines.
- Properly and safely use all culinary equipment.
- Learn all menu items produced by the assigned station.
- Execute plate presentations that meet specifications.
- Prepare a mixture of plated style items.
- Produce orders including Grilling, Roasting, and Baking fish, steaks, chicken, and shellfish.
- Perform work assignments to meet proper quantities within a necessary time frame.
- Communicate with other team members.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in stressful situations.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
- At least 2 years of culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
- ServSafe or equivalent food handlers certification required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills required.
- Knife skills required.
- Basic mathematical skills and an understanding of weights and measures to follow recipes.
- Familiarity with batch and quantity cooking.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while executing delegated tasks and assignments.
- Flexible scheduling to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
