About the Role
Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, including patient education, and serving as circulating or scrub nurse.
Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough preoperative patient assessments, including medical history, allergies, and consent verification.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, sterile draping, and surgical site verification.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive surgical records, documenting medications, procedures, and patient responses.
- Facilitate effective communication among surgical team members for a safe surgical experience.
- Act as the patient's advocate during surgery, monitoring safety, comfort, and infection control.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Stay updated on advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices.
- Perform supplemental responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum one year Operating Room experience.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- EMR experience required, MEDENT preferred.
- Computer skills required with minimum proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Extensive standing and walking required.
- Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to position and move patients.
- Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to hazards/physical risk.
