About the Role
This Product Manager role will focus on Email & Newsletters, overseeing the complete lifecycle of outbound email operations for both editorial newsletters and commercial properties. The mission is to build a seamless, efficient engine that drives reader engagement and new revenue streams, balancing technical deliverability with strong product positioning.
Responsibilities
- Architect a unified product roadmap that bridges editorial newsletters and commercial email brands, identifying synergies and cross-promotional opportunities.
- Partner closely with newsroom leadership to design, launch, and iterate on editorial newsletters that drive reader habituation and subscription conversion.
- Oversee enterprise ESP management, ensuring robust sender reputation, optimal inbox placement, and technical excellence across all outbound channels.
- Develop list growth strategies while establishing rigorous protocols for CASL compliance, data privacy, and legal opt-in language.
- Establish and monitor key metrics that define operational success, using data to steer the ship and ensure resources are directed toward the core purpose.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a product manager, preferably working on large, consumer-facing digital products.
- Proven ability to develop and execute on long-range product roadmaps, develop milestone plans and prioritize backlogs.
- Expertise in agile development methodologies and a proven ability to write detailed epics and user stories.
- Strong analytics skills and the ability to use data to derive product insights.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and comfort collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Comfort conducting customer research through interviews, surveys and usability tests and using the research to inform product direction.
- Able to lead all stages of product life cycle, from discovery to development to launch and continuing optimization.
- Able to work closely with UX/UI designers to create product experiences that customers will love.
- Ability to look at disparate editorial and commercial lists and build a unified technical architecture that scales efficiently.
- Ability to balance monetization drivers with audience trust preservation.
- Proven track record in email product management, with deep knowledge of deliverability, modern ESPs, CRM integrations, and commercial product development.
