About the Role

We are seeking Executive Surveyors to support business growth and deliver world-class service to a diverse client base. This role offers the chance to work on varied projects across sectors, with a focus on training and development to progress your career. You will work within a dynamic cost team, reporting to senior leadership, and have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in the built environment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in day-to-day project contact, client-facing roles, and eager to learn and develop while driving the company's industry leadership. Attention to detail, analytical skills, and collaboration are key. You will support business development, build relationships, assist in recruitment, manage teams, and oversee multiple projects including fee income, budget, and resources.

  • Understand core procurement and contract options (e.g., NEC 3/4) and routes to market.
  • Draft procurement strategies focused on achieving Client objectives.
  • Take market soundings, establish supplier bidding potential, conduct surveys, report results, and develop inputs into procurement strategy.
  • Undertake compliant procurement events under Public Procurement Regulations (PCR 2015/UCR 2016).
  • Understand new Procurement Act 2023 regulations.
  • Develop and prepare a full suite of tender documents.
  • Lead a tender evaluation process, including reviewing tender returns, chairing evaluation meetings, and drafting evaluation reports.
  • Negotiate and collate contract documents with Client teams and Suppliers.
  • Engage with stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Write, produce, and present reports, utilizing relevant role-related software.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and financial analysis to the Client.
  • Manage post-contract change control, including compensation events and claims (preferably NEC 3 & 4).
  • Assess works completed for payment applications.
  • Negotiate and prepare final accounts.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled within financial parameters.
  • Monitor costs of work done and report on budget variances, providing prompt and accurate financial information to the Client.
  • Monitor project budget, proactively manage changes, including risk registers and contingency with the project team.
  • Provide accurate periodic reporting and presentation of cost data and Cost of Work Done (COWD), accounting for variances against budget in all commercial reports.
  • Conduct accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including measurement and consideration of all project factors.
  • Prepare and deliver cost plans.
  • Utilize specialist tools and techniques for cost estimating, with an understanding of data gathering, management, and storage systems.
  • Analyze and evaluate the potential financial impact of design changes, recommending cost-effective solutions.
  • Undertake market testing of costs, liaising with specialist subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop plans to analyze and bridge gaps resulting from benchmarking exercises.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with construction projects, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Provide proactive advice to project teams on risk-related issues to avoid disputes and delays.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified – preferably within a construction related discipline
  • MRICS preferred, but not essential. Training support provided for MRICS.
  • Pre and post contract experience
  • Experience on large scale infrastructure projects, ideally within the energy and utility sector.
  • Previous experience within a consultancy environment strongly desirable
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • A strategic thinker with broad problem solving skills
  • Experience working in a client focused environment with a personal commitment to the delivery of excellent client service
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of market issues and events and their impact
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to get involved
  • Leadership skills- able to provide guidance and advice to junior members in their work and professional development
  • Ability to work with internal teams, the client, and project teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
