About the Role
Manage and oversee all business development and customer management aspects, preparing and negotiating bids and contracts within the UK&I construction market. Contribute strategically to the UK&I Business Development strategy, aiming to enhance market position, achieve financial and reputational growth, and foster strong client relations for sustainable business growth.
Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive market research and continuously monitor the local market identifying trends and opportunities.
- Identify and evaluate new markets and partnership opportunities through prospecting, networking, and industry participation.
- Provide input to industry associations and groups to benefit FC’s strategic market position.
- Develop situation analyses including SWOT to inform strategic planning, market and competitive analysis, and customer needs assessment.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with government, trade industry, and private sector networks.
- Develop strategies and implement practices that enhance FC’s value proposition to clients and the market.
- Actively drive FC’s presence and visibility in the market, leveraging joint venture and partnership opportunities.
- Participate in commercial discussions and negotiations related to joint ventures/consortium formation.
- Liaise with Ferrovial Construction Bidding Department regarding approval processes for new business opportunities and comply with corporate operational procedures.
- Lead early client interactions regarding future opportunities, including registrations of interest and market soundings.
- Lead and prepare prequalification and Expression of Interests, including development of returnable schedules.
- Support tender teams collaboratively with all departments and external advisors in bid preparation.
- Prepare pipeline and business opportunities presentations and reports, and maintain the in-house CRM system.
- Maintain accurate records and files of all tender data.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor bid budgets.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Assist the business in organizing relevant pre-qualification requisites, approvals, and permits.
- Motivate others and provide leadership to accomplish team goals without direct authority.
- Prudently manage resources within budgetary guidelines and ethical corporate governance.
- Continually maintain knowledge of, and comply with, all relevant Ferrovial policies and procedures.
- Understand, uphold, and comply with the Ferrovial Group Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements
- Tertiary degree in civil engineering or similar.
- Relevant experience in business development, bidding, commercial management, project delivery, pre-construction, or client management within construction or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience in preparation of expression of interests, proposals, frameworks, or tenders.
- Relevant experience in negotiating and closing business deals within the UK&I market.
- A customer-centric approach to developing and sustaining commercial and industry relationships.
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing competing deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
- Sound ability to lead business negotiations in various contexts, including with government agencies, joint venture teams, and investors.
- Preparedness to educate, develop, and enhance the organization’s commercial and client management capability.
- An ability to improve and manage reputational credibility, knowing when to take actions to mitigate brand risk.
