About the Role
Geotab is seeking a Software Developer Intern to support other developers by contributing to the architectural and technical advancement of internal platforms and services. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology who wants to join an industry leader and gain experience in developer experience and foundational systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the advancement of internal platforms and services that support Geotab's development teams.
- Assist in the development and improvement of internal tools and automation to streamline developer workflows and boost productivity.
- Participate in tasks related to the architecture and technical evolution of foundational systems.
- Enhance Geotab's internal development platforms and services, supporting the architectural and technical roadmap.
- Assist in developing and improving internal tooling, leading to more efficient workflows and increased productivity for other developers.
- Contribute to testing and quality assurance to ensure the reliability and stability of essential internal systems.
- Collaborate with senior developers and other stakeholders to gain practical experience and contribute to real-world software development projects.
Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts related to internal development platforms.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
- Ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion.
- Ability to work closely with other members of the development team and product design teams.
- Pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A willingness to participate in team discussions and support fellow team members in a collaborative environment.
- Basic understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Knowledge of backend systems such as C# .NET Core / .NET 7+.
- Understanding of version control principles (e.g., Git).
- Interest in exploring cloud computing (e.g., GCP).
- Familiarity with database design and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
- Foundational knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
- Exposure to web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React).
- Proof of eligibility to work for the duration of the internship.
