About the Role

Equal Parts is building the operating system for the modern insurance agency. We are creating a platform that scales relationships, not headcount, through a combination of acquisitions, in-house operations, and AI systems. This role will augment, then run, then own the diligence function, reporting to our Head of M&A. We value speed and quality, and this role requires someone who can find the balance between them. This is not a checklist role; we need someone who can exercise judgment under pressure and build a system for thousands of acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Diligence Standard
  • Run diligence end to end on live acquisitions, providing support initially and less over time.
  • Validate seller representations by proving numbers against source data to build an honest view of business performance.
  • Size every issue, provide a recommendation, quantify findings, and present options.
  • Partner with business unit leaders, the deal team, and internal stakeholders to ensure full value from acquisitions.
  • Sit across from agency owners in difficult conversations, asking hard questions and getting real answers without risking the relationship.
  • Bring findings to owners directly, explain their meaning in plain terms, and work towards a path forward.
  • Exercise judgment to differentiate between messy books and broken fundamentals.
  • Identify and treat binary issues such as licensing, carrier appointments, trust account integrity, regulatory compliance, and undisclosed litigation as such.
  • Look for paths to 'yes' without softening findings, structuring around solvable problems.
  • Work within an AI-native operating model where the platform automates mechanical work.
  • Turn personal judgment into the platform's logic for future acquisitions.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to shape the diligence process at scale.
  • Flex across the deal team, taking on scope outside the primary role including revenue operations, surge support on seller conversations and deal evaluation, and integration support.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in transaction advisory, financial due diligence, corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or M&A.
  • Experience with diligence workstreams, having owned pieces of them.
  • Ability to think like an owner, push when something is wrong, and proactively identify next steps.
  • Strong financial acumen to read, normalize, and explain financials.
  • Judgment under incomplete information, with the ability to explain decisions and their basis.
  • Comfort holding direct, uncomfortable conversations with business owners while maintaining the relationship.
  • Comfort working with AI-native tooling and a bias toward encoding work rather than repeating it.
  • Preferred: Insurance sector experience (commission and contingent revenue, carrier relationships, retention dynamics, agency management systems, licensing and compliance).
  • Preferred: M&A experience with similarly sized targets in other fragmented industries.
