About the Role

The Rental Account Manager is the primary sales and marketing function at the BU level, supporting commercial rental and trailer services. This role aims to increase Ryder's rental sales presence, generate profitable new accounts, retain existing accounts, and drive rental revenue growth, improved profitability, and Return on Assets. The position also supports lease conversion quotas to enhance lease sales productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop leads through cold calls, telephone solicitation, and customer visits.
  • Assess customer needs and develop proposals using product knowledge.
  • Coordinate with rental operations to ensure equipment availability.
  • Market at the branch level and train rental sales representatives in telemarketing techniques.
  • Contact actual decision-makers and develop competitive proposals.
  • Train RSRs in proper phone skills and marketing techniques.
  • Maintain customer contact through visits and phone calls.
  • Ensure quality service by handling customer complaints and staying informed of customer needs.
  • Retain customers in a price-competitive market.
  • Schedule retention visits to long-term rental customers.
  • Develop proposals and contracts.
  • Maintain customer files and prepare follow-up correspondence.
  • Coordinate with other BU departments.
  • Maintain FIS integrity and accuracy of customer data in the DPS system.
  • Manage credit approval, collections of receivables, and maintenance of PM status and scheduling updates.
  • Follow up within a specific timeframe.
  • Comply with company procedures.
  • Diplomatically handle the collection of past due receivables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or 5 years of equivalent job-related experience.
  • One (1) year or more of sales experience or equivalent sales training.
  • Three (3) years or more of sales experience preferred.
  • One (1) year or more of industry experience preferred.
