About the Role
As an AI Engineer - Dealflow, you will develop and manage the product/tool used to build our proprietary deal flow within the investment team in the DACH software and tech SME sector. Your goal is to identify and reach attractive companies and their shareholders early, ideally before an M&A advisor is mandated or a broad sales process is initiated. You will bridge AI skills and deal origination, building the data, tool, and reporting infrastructure for market maps, outbound campaigns, potential investments, and a scalable sourcing process. You will collaborate closely with the FLEX Leadership Team, Investment Team, and Data & AI Team, receiving significant ownership from day one for building a central function at FLEX.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage the AI product/tool that continuously populates our origination funnel with software and technology companies in the DACH SME sector, continuously developing and iteratively improving it.
- Develop the screening and prioritization logic for targets and systematically improve their hit rate.
- Expand automated data acquisition and enrichment to include firmographics and ownership structures for targets.
- Develop logic and workflows to identify intent signals and potential sales interest.
- Initiate automated multichannel outreach and further develop the underlying processes.
- Build dashboards and reports on funnel, activities, and conversion as a basis for our sourcing and pipeline reviews.
- Evaluate new prospecting and sourcing tools and further develop outreach, sequences, and our messaging library.
Requirements
- Have built and deployed your own tools and automations in production, not just prototypes and demos.
- Possess at least 2-3 years of experience in building AI-based products/tools.
- Independently develop in Python and deploy with Docker on Azure in production.
- Familiar with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude) from practical experience and understand their reliable operational areas.
- Have experience working with CRM data and understand data quality and structure requirements.
- Think commercially: Understand why a target is relevant and measure yourself by results.
- Successfully completed studies in Business Informatics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a comparable STEM field.
- Negotiation-level proficiency in German and English.
