About the Role
The Assistant Commissioner sets the strategic direction and leads the design, development, and delivery of Education and Training functions for uniformed and non-uniformed staff within Fire & Rescue NSW. This role is accountable for driving organizational capacity to maintain RTO Status and comply with national curriculum requirements and education accreditation, ensuring the provision of superior expert training and advice to support front-line firefighting operations.
Responsibilities
- Sets the strategic direction of Education and Training functions.
- Leads the design, development, and delivery of Education and Training functions.
- Drives organizational capacity to maintain RTO Status.
- Ensures compliance with national curriculum requirements and education accreditation.
- Ensures the provision of superior expert training and advice to support front-line firefighting operations.
Requirements
- Post graduate tertiary qualification and/or significant professional experience in the discipline.
- Emergency management qualifications to enable fulfilment of legislative requirements of role.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary trends, issues and challenges in adult education and training in the national arena.
- Experience in developing high quality training solutions and approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum management.
- Detailed understanding of how curriculum applies to vocational education and training within emergency service organisations.
