About the Role
CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Data and AI Architect to drive strategic Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) initiatives using cutting-edge data technologies and analytics. This role will provide architectural guidance, technological vision, and solution development, utilizing advanced analytics, data science, and AI/ML to create a competitive advantage. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record designing and implementing successful data and AI/ML solutions, possess strong strategic thinking and technical skills, and excel in communication and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design the architecture for various data and AI solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
- Engage with business units to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Create data and AI architectural solutions for complex architecture, engineering, and environmental science problems.
- Design and implement strategies to scale data and AI solutions across different business units.
- Create detailed architecture and technical design documents for data and AI solutions.
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, and stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in new and emerging technologies, best practices, and tools.
- Assist with the development of documentation, standards, best practices, and workflows for data technology.
- Present to external audiences as needed.
- Assist with marketing, communications, and business development descriptions and activities.
- Assist with internal and external website descriptions.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Must reside and work in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, or Ontario.
- Demonstrated excellence in data architecture capabilities.
- Experienced with data technology and processes.
- Enjoys framing problems, shaping solutions, and leading implementation.
- Proven track record designing and implementing successful data and AI/ML solutions.
- Strategic thinker with a strong technical background.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Mindset of continuous learning and curiosity leading to tangible results.
- Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic and diplomatic partner.
- Innovative and able to apply critical thinking skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to assist with executing highly complex or specialized projects.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of hire.
- Not eligible for immigration application sponsorship or support.
Skills
- Advanced understanding and experience with the data management lifecycle (data governance, data architecture, data integration, metadata management, data development, data quality management, data administration, security & operations, data stewardship, master data management).
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Databricks.
- Understanding of Azure well-architected framework principles and application to Data and AI solutions.
- Expert knowledge and proven ability to develop highly complex data and AI architectures.
- Inquisitive with a desire to ask questions and gain deeper understanding.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
