About the Role

The Sr. Construction Manager (MEP) is the senior owner/operator leader accountable for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and mission-critical systems delivery of Fleet’s data center buildings. This role owns the MEP discipline outcome across the building(s), including scope, schedule confidence, quality, safety alignment, contractor accountability, and commissioning and turnover readiness.

Responsibilities

Hold the General Contractor and MEP tier-1 trade partners accountable for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and mission-critical systems scopes.
Own the MEP critical path, schedule, and quality metrics, escalating and mitigating discipline risks.
Coordinate MEP rough-in, systems integration, and energization sequencing with other construction managers.
Lead MEP progress evaluations, owner inspections, and MEP milestone and punch-list sign-offs.
Oversee and validate correct owner-side installation and integration of MV/LV electrical infrastructure, heavy mechanical cooling, industrial automation, and fire/security systems.
Enforce GC compliance with high-availability, mission-critical resiliency requirements, building codes, municipal permitting, and engineering specifications for MEP scopes.
Review, validate, and disposition MEP technical submittals, RFIs, and field changes through Procore.
Align MEP readiness with the delivery and rigging of long-lead OFCI equipment.
Own MEP participation in Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning with commissioning and operations teams.
Own and forecast the MEP discipline budget, contingencies, and cash flow.
Provide senior technical expertise in RFPs and onboarding; audit and negotiate MEP change orders.
Direct and develop MEP-scope Construction Manager(s); serve as primary MEP interface to internal leadership, the GC’s MEP leadership, commissioning agents, and consultants.
Drive an incident-free safety culture including energized-work and high-risk systems safety; mitigate systems integration risks and long-lead equipment exposure.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, OR equivalent practical owner-side field leadership experience.
12+ years of construction management experience with a focus on in-building MEP delivery — medium-to-low voltage electrical distribution, standby/emergency generation, heavy mechanical cooling, integrated controls/BMS, and mission-critical systems — on large-scale, fast-tracked projects.
Owner/operator or developer experience is preferred; a strong general contractor delivery background, or leadership experience with a well-established mechanical or electrical trade partner at this scale, is also considered.
Proven track record leading MEP delivery and commissioning, and enforcing performance on major trade packages, contracts, and schedules for mission-critical projects.
Advanced proficiency interpreting complex MEP designs and specifications and governing multi-level commissioning (L1–L5).
Experience leading direct reports (e.g., Construction Managers) on complex systems scopes.
Advanced proficiency with Procore (or equivalent), Microsoft Office Suite, and construction scheduling software.
Experience on data center or mission-critical facilities.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Detail-oriented self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
