About the Role

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Mission Critical Project Manager for their NY office. This role involves leading select Mission Critical projects, developing the group's capabilities, mentoring staff, and providing technical expertise. The position offers significant opportunity for advancement within a dynamic, growth-oriented firm.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a project manager on select projects in the Mission Critical Sector, including newbuilds, renovations, fit-outs, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Engage in client-facing activities, including RFP site visits and proposal writing.
• Perform all management functions, including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.
• Vet company processes and provide input for improvements.
• Assist project managers across all enterprise locations.
• Develop a core group of assistant project managers capable of independent project execution.
• Act as a technical resource for staff.
• Manage and schedule quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
• Complete internal peer reviews and provide input in multi-discipline page turns across all offices.
• Manage and schedule page turns prior to all major project deliverables.
• Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles.
• Review workforce projections and determine staffing needs.
• Identify strategies to adjust design schedules based on staffing availability.
• Drive ownership, accountability, and culture throughout the company.
• Interact with partners and executives to support the firm's growth and quality agenda.
• Identify potential business opportunities.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to develop fees for complex projects.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Grow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.

Requirements

• At least ten years of experience in engineering consulting or an adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.).
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of building codes.
• Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and the latest technologies for MEP systems design of Mission Critical Facilities.
