About the Role
We are seeking an experienced finance SME to work alongside our consulting team and client stakeholders on a project-based engagement. You will apply your expertise through defined deliverables, collaborating with EY consultants and client teams to address business problems by redesigning how work is performed.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly and year-end close activities
- Post and review journal entries
- Maintain general ledger accuracy
- Prepare balance-sheet reconciliations
- Manage day-to-day AP, AR, and expense processing
- Track accruals and prepayments
- Support fixed-asset accounting and depreciation
- Prepare supporting schedules for audits
- Maintain accounting documentation and evidence
- Ensure data accuracy in ERP systems
- Support the Accounting Manager with reporting and analysis
- Prepare statutory accounting support under J-GAAP
- Assist with local audit requests and evidence preparation
- Support corporate tax calculations and tax adjustment schedules
- Handle operational aspects of consumption tax (VAT)
- Prepare J-GAAP to IFRS / US GAAP adjustment schedules
- Support HQ reporting pack preparation
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions
- Maintain documentation for transfer pricing support
- Perform inventory accounting tasks
- Execute POS-to-GL reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support landed-cost allocation (freight, duties, imports)
- Communicate with local teams in Japanese and escalate issues appropriately
Requirements
- Must be located in Japan
- Must be currently eligible to work in Japan
- Expertise in finance
