About the Role
AECOM's Building Engineering team is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Sydney to deliver innovative and technically complex building services solutions across major projects. This role offers a leading position in project delivery and the chance to contribute technical expertise to shape impactful projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of sophisticated electrical engineering solutions across health, defence, transport, data centres, sports facilities, and other complex building projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as the senior technical authority on major projects, providing expert review, guidance, and oversight of electrical design, installation strategies, and system integration.
- Oversee multiple electrical projects concurrently, balancing technical rigor, programme delivery, and client expectations to achieve successful outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into broader building services, offering technical insight on lighting, power distribution, fire and life safety, and low-voltage systems.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical excellence, innovative thinking, and professional development across the team.
Requirements
- Ideally 12+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering, gained within a Building Services consultancy, senior contracting role, or government department, with proven expertise in delivering technically complex projects across diverse sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple technical projects simultaneously, applying advanced electrical design expertise to ensure quality and innovation.
- Deep knowledge of Australian Standards, building codes, and electrical systems, with strong capability to provide technical leadership and mentor engineers and clients alike.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for mentoring, developing, and supporting engineers at earlier stages of their careers.
- Australian Citizenship is preferred.
- Prior defence clearance highly regarded.
