About the Role
Join SAGE San Francisco's Cardiology team as an experienced Veterinary Assistant. You will work with specialty veterinary professionals caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions and gain hands-on experience with advanced cardiac diagnostics and specialty medicine. This role is ideal for those looking to expand their skills in cardiology, ECG, echocardiography, anesthesia, and advanced patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Cardiology appointments, patient intake, medical histories, and patient care.
- Support cardiac diagnostics including ECGs, blood pressure measurements, radiographs, echocardiograms, and Holter monitoring.
- Perform venipuncture, assist with IV catheter placement, and prepare laboratory samples.
- Safely restrain, position, and monitor patients during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Prepare equipment, supplies, and treatment areas for Cardiology procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with clients regarding patient care.
- Collaborate with Cardiology, Emergency, and Specialty teams to provide exceptional patient care.
Requirements
- Two or more years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience strongly preferred.
- Cardiology, Specialty, Emergency, or Internal Medicine experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong animal handling, restraint, venipuncture, and patient monitoring skills.
- Experience with ECG, blood pressure monitoring, radiographs, or other cardiac diagnostics is a plus.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative specialty hospital.
- California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) required within 60 days of hire, if applicable.
