About the Role

Assists in managing housekeeping functions and staff daily to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are clean and well-maintained. Directs and works with the team to execute all housekeeping operations, focusing on guest and employee satisfaction and achieving operating budgets. Responsible for inspecting areas and implementing improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.
  • Prepares work assignments based on rooms to be cleaned and prospective check-outs.
  • Manages inventory to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Supervises inspection programs for guestrooms and public spaces.
  • Manages department operations to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Ensures employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
  • Communicates areas needing attention to staff and follows up.
  • Supervises daily housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with policies and standards.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and communicates departmental goals.
  • Conducts on-the-job training for new room attendants and provides follow-up training.
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees.
  • Schedules employees according to business demands and tracks time and attendance.
  • Ensures employees understand expectations and parameters.
  • Administers property policies, disciplinary procedures, and documentation.
  • Observes employee service behaviors and provides feedback.
  • Ensures employee recognition occurs on all shifts.
  • Solicits employee feedback and addresses employee problems or concerns.
  • Participates in employee progressive discipline procedures.
  • Reviews employee satisfaction results.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring team members.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Participates in developing and implementing corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction.
  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Emphasizes guest satisfaction and continuous improvement during departmental meetings.
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Strives to improve service performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related professional area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major (no work experience required).
