About the Role

This role owns Kaizen's talent acquisition strategy, responsible for scaling the team and hiring top talent across all functions. You will build and manage the recruiting engine, own the hiring bar, and personally close senior and executive searches, driving the company's growth and shaping its future.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run Kaizen's recruiting engine, including process, pipeline, and reporting.
  • Own and raise the hiring bar across the company by attracting and securing top talent.
  • Manage concurrent searches for go-to-market, operations, engineering, and design roles, personally closing senior and executive positions.
  • Oversee the recruiting stack (Ashby, Juicebox, LinkedIn Recruiter) and provide leadership with pipeline visibility.
  • Drive automation of coordination tasks to allow the team to focus on candidates.
  • Manage the existing team of three recruiters and hire additional approved recruiters.
  • Set the standard for excellent recruiting and invest in the career growth of the team.
  • Manage the agency roster, evaluating partners, negotiating terms, and determining when to engage their services.
  • Establish Kaizen's employer brand in the NYC and DC markets.
  • Partner with the COO and founding team on headcount planning and talent strategy for company growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience scaling a talent function through significant headcount growth, with demonstrable results.
  • Experience operating as a trusted peer to company founders, demonstrating direct communication and ownership.
  • Ability to articulate a compelling reason for candidates to join Kaizen and effectively sell the federal opportunity.
  • Established relationships and deep understanding of the NYC engineering community.
  • Experience managing a recruiting team, including recruiters, coordinators, and sourcers, with a focus on career development.
  • Experience managing concurrent searches across engineering and go-to-market, from individual contributor to executive levels, including challenging roles.
  • Proficiency in using AI and automation in recruiting workflows.
  • Experience configuring an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ideally Ashby.
