About the Role

The Financial Core pod owns the accounting engine underneath the platform, including project accounting, cost model, revenue recognition, WIP and unbilled balances, period close, and GL integrations. This role leads the pod, owning the roadmap, specification quality, and outcomes for this critical financial surface, which is also foundational for the company's next-generation, AI-native platform.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap, specification quality, and outcome for the financial core surface.
  • Write precise specifications for engineers and controllers.
  • Engage with controllers, CFOs, revenue accountants, and accounting managers to gather requirements.
  • Track regulatory and accounting-standard changes and assess their impact.
  • Make and defend prioritization calls for the financial surface.
  • Partner daily with engineering and design, settling trade-offs directly.
  • Define acceptance criteria, including for agent behavior, and ensure quality before customer release.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Experience, and Finance to align the roadmap with business needs.
  • Own the financial contract for other pods and review features impacting financial data.
  • Manage the project accounting subledger, including trial balance, aging, and GL reconciliation.
  • Oversee revenue recognition, supporting ASC 606 compliance.
  • Manage the cost model, including employee and contractor costs, and margin visibility.
  • Ensure WIP, unbilled, and deferred balances are treated as reportable objects.
  • Develop GL and ERP integrations, starting with QuickBooks and expanding to other major systems.
  • Build AI-native finance workflows, including agents for recognition cycles, close checklists, and subledger-to-GL reconciliation.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience on a B2B SaaS product with deep domain knowledge (or 4+ years for Senior PM).
  • Proven track record of shipping adopted, complex, backend-heavy capabilities.
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of defending positions and adapting based on evidence.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and a bias for quick decision-making.
  • Experience working directly with engineering on data models and system design.
  • Sufficient technical fluency to contribute to technical conversations.
  • Experience with AI as a tool in product management, including building prototypes and using AI for documentation.
  • Understanding of how firms close their books.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting platform implementation, solution consulting, or architecture (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday Financials, Deltek, Unanet, QuickBooks).
  • Product management experience on a financial product (subledger, revenue recognition, billing, close platform, reconciliation tooling).
  • Hands-on accounting or finance operations experience (staff accountant, revenue accountant, controller, FP&A) with GL command and a move towards software.
  • Understanding of subledger vs. GL distinctions, percent-complete recognition, period close processes, and auditor requirements.
  • Deep domain background is critical; experience in financial system implementations is highly valued.
  • Background in professional services, consulting, agency, or architecture and engineering firms is helpful.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency, intercompany, or transfer pricing is helpful.
  • Experience with AI or agent-driven features in audited or regulated workflows is helpful.
  • Experience shipping pull requests or working with engineering on spec-driven and agentic development is helpful.
  • Experience migrating customers off legacy financial systems is helpful.
  • Experience with SOC 1 or 2 is helpful.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa or STEM OPT.
