About the Role
We are looking for Preconstruction Managers to join our Construction Solutions team. In this role, you will optimize client projects by analyzing design and constructability options. You will leverage your hands-on experience in design, cost estimating, and construction to provide continuous feedback throughout project phases, minimizing risks and maximizing value.
Responsibilities
- Provide preconstruction leadership to deliver value-based design and constructability options for projects across Canada.
- Engage in design meetings with owners, architects, and engineers to provide real-time recommendations for cost, schedule, quality, and constructability.
- Review and comment on drawings and specifications, providing recommendations for constructability, value engineering, and sequencing.
- Prepare and lead the development of Construction Management Plans (CMP) for permitting applications.
- Lead design-assist teams to investigate renovations and equipment upgrades for efficient and least disruptive work sequences.
- Provide construction management support to owners and developers, including trade package development, procurement, and platform implementation.
- Assist industrial clients with equipment integration into base buildings.
- Conduct regular site visits for assessments and documentation.
- Actively participate in business development and proposal efforts.
- Maintain internal financial control of projects to ensure they remain within budget.
- Prepare project plans and schedules, ensuring compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assist with training and mentoring staff, providing leadership across assigned projects.
- Utilize various software tools for deliverable preparation.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Architecture, or a related field, combined with construction industry experience.
- 5-10 years of progressive work-related experience in design, cost estimating, and construction.
- Demonstrated familiarity with building codes, health & safety regulations, and regulatory permit requirements.
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and design details.
- In-depth knowledge of trades relevant to commercial, industrial, and civil construction.
- Knowledge of government regulations regarding the construction industry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google communication tools (Gmail, Google Docs).
- Knowledge of project management tools like Microsoft Project / Gantt chart planning tools.
- Must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
