About the Role
The Banquet Supervisor assists in the overall success of the Banquet Department by executing service goals and employing effective leadership and management skills in accordance with all applicable policies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and adjust written communications (BEO’s, room/station assignments, room setups) and communicate changes.
- Verify room setups before each event and confirm food quantities and timing with the Banquet Chef.
- Assess staffing needs for upcoming events and assign tasks and duties.
- Maintain client relationships, ensure banquet specifications are met, and promptly address client concerns.
- Conduct pre-function briefings to ensure grooming standards and inform staff of specific needs.
- Provide training and development opportunities to new and existing employees.
- Lead and direct event execution for seamless service delivery.
- Allocate stations and team partners, and review banquet event orders.
- Provide daily support and guidance to banquet team members, monitor job performance, and conduct evaluations and coaching.
- Maintain payroll systems, including authorizing shifts, calculating timesheets, and monitoring attendance.
- Maintain a high level of service.
- Assist with inventory management and complete required daily reports.
- Report maintenance, repair, or housekeeping concerns immediately and maintain a safe environment.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Post-Secondary Food Service and Hospitality Education diploma preferred.
- Proven knowledge of food & wine.
- Minimum 1 year previous Supervisory/Managerial experience.
- Must have recognized Provincial training in Smart Serve and Responsible Alcohol Management.
- Hotel, Restaurant or Food Service and Hospitality education or specific training.
- WHMIS Certified.
- Food Safety Training.
- Customer Service oriented background, excellent people skills, and diversity.
- Fully knowledgeable and comply with AGCO, OLG, LLBO rules and regulations, GCE policies and Collective Agreement.
- Ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to prioritize and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Able to maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management.
- Effective leadership, oral and written communication skills.
- Competence and professionalism.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to perform tasks and duties effectively and safely within prescribed time limits.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal record and credit check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
