About the Role
The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a People Operations (HR) Business Partner to drive culture and develop organizational talent. This role partners with leaders and departments to support people and talent needs, champion culture, and foster a learning and development mindset.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted partnerships with leaders and employees, serving as an advisor on people-related matters.
- Partner with leaders to enhance team effectiveness, employee engagement, and organizational performance through people strategies.
- Develop a deep understanding of teams to anticipate business needs and align people priorities with organizational goals.
- Coach leaders on talent planning, leadership effectiveness, succession planning, and employee development.
- Provide expert guidance on performance management, organizational design, compensation, workforce planning, and employee experience.
- Lead and support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and sensitive employee situations.
- Champion and contribute to People Operations initiatives that improve the employee experience and organizational capability.
- Analyze employee engagement and survey data to identify opportunities and support leaders in creating action plans.
- Leverage workforce trends, employee feedback, and data to identify risks, opportunities, and solutions for the employee experience and business outcomes.
- Partner with leaders to integrate AI and emerging technologies into the workplace, focusing on new capabilities, change management, productivity, and a people-first approach.
- Maintain a presence at Blue Jays home games, concerts, and other events to understand and support the teams involved.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a Business Partner role.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to quickly understand business priorities.
- Interest in baseball, sports, or live events.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive results.
- Resourceful, proactive, and solutions-focused.
- Experience managing employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, and legal partnerships.
- Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience coaching and advising leaders at all levels.
- Experience with human capital management systems, applicant tracking systems and timekeeping software (Oracle HCM preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Curiosity and practical application of AI and emerging technologies in the workplace.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required.
