About the Role

Process short-term disability claims by applying established policies and procedures. Provide administrative support to clients, members, and insurers for effective and prompt processing of disability claims. Act as a liaison with Trustees, employers, and members, providing information on procedures and claim status to plan consultants and other company staff.

Responsibilities

  • Review disability claims to determine fitness for work and ongoing eligibility and entitlement to benefits based on medical documentation, functional abilities, job demands, and contractual provisions.
  • Develop and implement case management plans focused on recovery and timely return to work in collaboration with the client and treatment providers.
  • Conduct regular assessments to understand the client’s ongoing functional abilities, recovery, and treatment needs.
  • Determine work-readiness and develop suitable RTW programs.
  • Identify barriers impacting recovery or RTW and coordinate expedited health care or rehabilitation services.
  • Manage cases until return to work or claim resolution.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a health-related field or disability management.
  • 3+ years experience in disability claims adjudication or case management.
  • Full fluency in French and English.
  • A high degree of confidentiality as you will have access to a moderate range of confidential information.
  • Strong judgement and critical thinking skills.
  • Accuracy and Precision.
  • Communication skills.
  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong understanding of medical and mental health conditions and treatments.
  • Ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict.
