About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager contributes to the financial growth of the company by ensuring customer service exceeds expectations, operational integrity, and human resource development. This role supports company and individual store goals and may involve specialization in merchandising, inventory, or projects.
Responsibilities
- Create and foster a database of Club Monaco customers
- Implement a Personal Shopper Program
- Provide unsurpassed customer service at all times
- Implement a monthly outreach program to update client base with new product arrivals
- Brainstorm ideas for in-store events
- Partner with store management and district manager to execute store events
- Field customer inquiries regarding products, quality issues, and return policies
- Implement a system to track monthly sales, inquiries, and inquiry types
- Lead Product Knowledge sessions for store staff
- Communicate product and customer feedback to managers
- Assist with operational duties including opening and closing the store
- Ensure monitoring and execution of daily payroll goals
- Assume Store Manager responsibilities in their absence
- Organize schedules for Managers-in-Training and Stylists
- Achieve or exceed financial plans through effective planning and execution
- Manage sales and wage budgets analytically and strategically
- Utilize available tools and support for creative business-driving approaches
- Monitor sales and financial results, taking appropriate action and communicating needs
- Optimize store actions for sales, merchandise investment, wage investment, and minimize stock shortage
- Ensure disciplined control of all store expenses
- Lead the store’s business planning process
- Contribute to long-term growth through minimum turnover and recruiting high-level candidates
- Maintain and develop a store team capable of meeting service and sales goals
- Encourage empowerment, reinforce ownership, and lead a positive work environment
- Ensure management and service associates understand and meet job expectations
- Select, train, and motivate management and associates
- Schedule and facilitate training sessions to develop team skills
- Model and coach selling service and other skills
- Provide continuous performance feedback and training to store management and associates
- Maximize inventory to achieve planned sales
- Assess and react to competitive opportunities
- Ensure operational integrity in store routines and practices
- Train managers and service associates in inventory management and supervise physical inventory counts
- Train, coach, and audit store management and associates on timelines and standards for markdowns, promotions, merchandising, damage processing, consolidations, and store standards
- Ensure the Brand Integrity of the company is reflected to customers
- Train and support management and service associates in planning and supervising store flips and merchandising needs
- Ensure store adheres to merchandising/flip calendars
- Ensure store meets visual merchandising and maintenance standards
- Implement effective Loss Prevention methods, policies, and procedures
- Monitor the application of policies and procedures
- Model accurate and appropriate knowledge and use of policies and procedures
- Partner with Loss Prevention on audit standards, results, training, and actions needed
- Review and audit payroll procedures for accurate reporting and corrections
- Contribute to building a customer service-driven company through leadership skills
- Responsible for all opening and closing procedures of the store
- Find replacement staff if unable to open or close store and inform DM/RM immediately
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years retail management experience
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to work shifts standing and walking
- Ability to lift approximately 20 lbs
- Required to travel to remote areas for business meetings
- Must be able to pack, unpack, and move stock when supporting in receiving/stocking functions
