About the Role
As a Software Engineer 2, you will contribute to our billing and payments product, supporting significant financial transactions for educational institutions. This full-stack role requires technical expertise and the ability to manage diverse client needs, collaborating closely with US-based engineering and product teams while maintaining global connections. We seek an engineer who balances practical design with a commitment to building secure, scalable, and high-quality products.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality, testable, and maintainable code within our billing and payments system.
- Utilize AI tools for code exploration, test scaffolding, and production-quality code assistance.
- Ensure security, quality, scaling, and performance are prioritized.
- Communicate effectively across engineering and product teams.
- Participate in solutioning meetings, contributing to discussions on design trade-offs.
Requirements
- Professional experience in Java development.
- Understanding of relational databases (MySQL).
- Comfort using AI-assisted development tools.
- Writing comprehensive test cases for all new code using JUnit 5 + Mockito + AssertJ.
- Self-reliant and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to learn new systems and manage time effectively.
- Enjoy working with diverse, global teams.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- 3-6 years of professional experience in application development.
- Proven track record as a Java Developer in a production environment.
- Ability to deliver high-quality code and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
