About the Role
As a Software Engineer 2, you will contribute to our billing and payments product, supporting significant money movement for colleges and universities. This full-stack role requires technical proficiency and the ability to manage diverse client needs, collaborating closely with US-based engineering and product teams while maintaining a global presence. We seek an engineer who balances pragmatic design with a commitment to building quality, secure, and scalable products.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality, testable, and maintainable code within our billing and payments system.
- Utilize AI tools for code exploration, test scaffolding, and production-quality code assistance.
- Ensure security, quality, scaling, and performance are prioritized.
- Communicate effectively across engineering and product teams.
- Participate in solutioning meetings, debating pros and cons constructively.
Requirements
- Professional experience in Java development is a must.
- Understanding of relational databases (MySQL).
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity.
- Write comprehensive test cases for all new code using JUnit 5 + Mockito + AssertJ.
- Self-reliant and proactive, taking ownership of tasks.
- Ability to learn new systems or legacy codebases quickly.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Enjoy working with diverse teams across different time zones.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- 3-6 years of professional experience in application development.
- Proven track record as a Java Developer in a production environment.
- Ability to deliver high-quality code and adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
