About the Role
Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for outgoing, friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and meeting new people. It's also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned zones on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted behavior and activity.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors with a positive, professional demeanor.
- Identify and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to local authorities, providing accurate descriptions.
- Politely request compliance from individuals violating quality-of-life offenses.
- Engage pedestrians with friendly greetings and provide city information.
- Visit zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
- Complete basic daily reports of tasks, demonstrating proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing.
Requirements
- Must be able to ride a bicycle.
- Valid TX Driver's License required.
- Military/Security/Civil Service background required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
