About the Role
Oversee all daily operations of production and manufacturing, ensuring adherence to safety policies, company policies, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, delegate, and direct day-to-day operations to meet production schedule, output, quality, and shipping targets.
- Create and maintain a positive work environment through effective communication with employees and supervisors.
- Review schedules daily to ensure all components and resources are available for timely job completion.
- Monitor schedules for short, intermediate, and long-term planning to prevent shipment delays.
- Communicate with the Plant Manager and corporate scheduler to meet customer shipping expectations and provide advance notice of potential delays.
- Collaborate with production services, purchasing, engineering, and management to communicate any delays affecting ship dates.
- Schedule preventative machine or rail maintenance with the Plant Manager to minimize production impact and ensure timely equipment repairs.
- Adhere to and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain continuity.
- Ensure quality standards are met and maintained in collaboration with QC and the Grinding Trainer/Supervisor.
- Process all parts accurately and efficiently to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Oversee inventory management of in-process parts, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and tracking.
- Identify opportunities to increase production and efficiencies while reducing costs without compromising quality.
- Effectively allocate resources and utilize assets for optimal results.
- Support all safety procedures and address unsafe situations and actions immediately.
- Communicate hiring needs and train new hires in cooperation with HR.
- Coach employees with HR to maximize their strengths and growth potential.
- Review new hire employees with HR to ensure timely and adequate feedback.
- Champion rewards and recognition efforts to improve retention and motivation.
- Manage, develop, and retain the workforce required for the production schedule in cooperation with HR.
- Hold employees accountable, administer discipline, and carry out separations of employment as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the manufacturing facility.
Requirements
- 5 years of progressive experience in Metal Fabrication
- Computer proficiency
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in plant manufacturing
- Previous experience holding teams accountable to KPIs
- Experience with Epicor for Dashboard utilization
- Ability to handle stress
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours per day
- Occasional lifting, carrying, and maneuvering up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms for elevated work
- Ability to perform walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, lying down inside or under a vessel, and twisting while performing job tasks
- Comfortable in chemically hazardous situations
- Mindful of chemical safety and use proper PPE when required
- Ability to hold a 4-8lb grinder for prolonged periods while applying force
- Ability to grasp a welding torch while welding parts for brief to long periods
Experience Level
