About the Role

AEGIS London is seeking a Delegated Property Underwriter to provide maternity cover for 16-18 months. The role requires full underwriting authority and experience in the Canadian and US Binder market, with a focus on renewing existing Canadian contracts and supporting Class Underwriters. The position may also involve supporting the US binder account. This role is suitable for an experienced Underwriter seeking a short-term position or an Assistant Underwriter aiming to expand their knowledge and experience. Candidates re-entering the market are also welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in underwriting the NMPBRW (International Binders) account for Syndicate 1225, adhering to personal underwriting authorities and Syndicate procedures, referring risks as needed.
  • Contribute to achieving the business mix, planned premium income, and ULRs outlined in the syndicate business plan (SBF).
  • Propose new ideas and concepts to support risk selection and portfolio management.
  • Analyze and evaluate upcoming renewal contracts to recommend, benchmark, and price risks.
  • Prepare and present detailed Peer Review notes, including RMS modeling output, contract/rating changes, and Modelled Pre-Pricing analysis.
  • Lead or assist in renewal discussions with London Brokers and Coverholders.
  • Proactively monitor the existing portfolio, including quarterly rate movement analysis, CAT Load movements, and EPI monitoring.
  • Help maintain and service strong relationships with Insureds, distribution partners, and reinsurers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of entries in internal systems for underwriting and aggregated line exposures.
  • Collaborate with the Claims division to manage problem risks, restructure proposals, and address workout areas.
  • Comply with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, sanctions, policies, procedures, and guidance.

Requirements

  • Full underwriting authority.
  • Experience in the Canadian and US Binder market.
  • Solid understanding of contracts and wordings.
  • Knowledge of the delegated compliance process.
  • Ability to analyze Risk Level data in detail.
  • Experience in various product types.
  • Strong broker connections.
  • Long-standing dealings with key clients.
  • Working knowledge and underwriting experience of Canadian and US Delegated Property.
  • Detailed comprehension of policy wordings, coverages, premium rates, and risk factors.
  • Experience in managing and owning a book of Delegated business.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of standard underwriting systems, process, and procedure.
