About the Role

This position involves leading application software market research, focusing on mid-tier vendors and contributing to the Japan portion of the "Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker." The role requires ongoing research and analysis of application software market trends in Japan, providing customers with deep knowledge and insights. Collaboration with global and Asia-Pacific analysts is expected to contribute IDC's thought leadership from a Japanese perspective, along with supporting mid-tier clients.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and execution of research on application software and writing research reports.
  • Conducting market estimates and forecasts for software market data products.
  • Researching the overall Japanese application software market, with a focus on mid-tier vendors.
  • Conducting research including market forecasts, vendor share analysis, user company demand surveys, IT supplier and user company interviews, quantitative research (web surveys), and secondary data research.
  • Business development of cloud-related subscription and custom services.
  • Presentation at external events regarding the cloud market.
  • Presentation at IDC's events.
  • Engagement in consulting projects.
  • Collaboration with overseas analysts for research and business development.
  • Relationship establishment with cloud solution vendors.

Requirements

  • Practical experience in application software development and implementation support, product marketing, and/or business planning at application software vendors, system integrators, or consulting firms, with knowledge of application software.
  • Alternatively, experience in selecting and implementing software vendors, or in planning and managing systems at client companies, with knowledge of application software products and solutions.
  • English proficiency: Basic conversation, e-mail communication (read and write).
  • Japanese: Native level (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • PC skill: Excel (pivot table creation/utilization skill), Word, PowerPoint.
  • College graduate or above.
  • Employment eligibility verification required.
  • Participation in E-Verify.
