About the Role
The Warehouse Manager will oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, managing people, processes, and systems to meet productivity targets while ensuring workplace health and safety and building security.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies.
- Coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, assembly, and dispatch of goods.
- Utilize space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, meeting quality, budgetary, and environmental objectives.
- Understand company policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes.
- Coordinate the use of systems as necessary.
- Respond to and handle customer communication via email and telephone.
- Maintain up-to-date stock control systems and accurate inventories.
- Plan future capacity requirements.
- Organize staff recruitment and training, monitor performance, and progress.
- Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork to meet or exceed productivity targets.
- Produce regular reports and statistics.
- Brief team leaders daily.
- Maintain health and safety, hygiene, and security standards in the work environment.
- Oversee the planned maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Numeracy and understanding of finance for stock management.
- People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead, motivate, delegate, and explain ideas.
- Team working skills.
- Planning and organizing skills for effective stock flow management.
- Analytical ability.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Initiative and decisiveness.
- Technical and IT skills, particularly in database management and spreadsheets.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work on a tactical and strategic level.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Flexible approach to work due to warehouse shift patterns.
- Knowledge of legal requirements for operating a warehouse.
