About the Role

Wizcorp is seeking an Unreal Engine (4 and 5) Programmer to join exciting projects for next-generation consoles. Your experience will determine your specific role within our team. We are a passionate, cross-cultural team dedicated to bringing magic back to game development, operating as a 100% remote studio based in Tokyo.

Responsibilities

Review code written by other engineers to ensure it meets quality standards.
Implement clean and extensible operating systems for consoles.
Investigate and improve performance on target platforms by modifying the game and engine.
Test updated code on target platforms to verify accuracy and performance.
Estimate own tasks and complete them by deadlines.
Write clear, maintainable code that passes reviews by senior engineers.
Report impediments to the project lead.
Test and document provided solutions for review and learning by other developers.
Implement and maintain software engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Take responsibility for broad areas of the codebase and large, complex features.
Take ownership of mission-critical areas of the codebase.
Coordinate with members outside the engineering team to deliver features on time.
Determine the feasibility of large features and propose solutions.
Provide solid programming expertise to realize large feature and architecture proposals.
Perform code review analysis, anticipating design and implementation issues by leveraging all relevant experience.

Requirements

Several years of hands-on experience with Unreal Engine.
Experience releasing games for consoles.
Comfortable with C++ as a common language.
Willingness to dive deep into the engine and improve it.
Ability to design, test, and debug own code without assistance from other engineers.
Ability to break down large features into engineering tasks and collaborate with others to complete them.
Ability to mentor engineers on software development best practices.
Interest in working on both the game itself and its tools.
Communicate confidently with all members of the company.
Must reside in Japan during employment with Wizcorp.
JLPT N3 or higher (conversational Japanese ability).
English proficiency (ability to read, write, and discuss technical matters).

Familiarity with other target platforms (Nintendo, PC, Mobile).
Experience with C#, Ruby, Python, shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
Familiarity with Unreal Engine build pipelines.
Experience with other game engines (Unity, proprietary engines, etc.).
Experience developing released game titles (minimum 1 title).
Proficiency with source code management systems (Git, SVN, Perforce, etc.).

Salary/Compensations

JPY 4,800,000 - JPY 7,200,000 per year
