About the Role

The Interior Designer I is responsible for ensuring that the interior design of a project enhances the concept and story of the project through spatial quality and materiality. Under the mentorship of more seasoned designers, he/she will work collaboratively with the Project Designer and project team in supporting the development of interior design and selection of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

Responsibilities

Support the "breaking of the bread" meeting in the pre-design phase to inspire the client and drive the visioning process.
Conduct research and analysis on design trends, materials, and furnishings to present innovative ideas.
Develop and refine interior design concepts through images, sketches, models, diagrams, and renderings.
Support the Project Designer in developing floor plans, furniture layouts, and room arrangements.
Help select materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting solutions that align with design intent and budget.
Create material boards and presentations under the guidance of senior team members.
Implement sustainable design principles into interior design.
Implement Pfluger documentation standards and incorporate redlines into project revisions.
Collaborate with the project team to learn and coordinate specifications.
Maintain and apply an understanding of codes and regulations for project compliance.
Attend client meetings and site visits, supporting client communications and responses.
Collaborate with architects, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between interior design and architectural plans.
Assist in managing project timelines and interior design budgets.
Contribute to vendor and contractor coordination for timely procurement and installation.
Participate in internal design reviews, providing and seeking feedback.
Maintain and update the materials library.
Organize presentations with architecture & design industry partners.
Participate in Pfluger’s recruitment process as needed.

Requirements

Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture is required.
Currently pursuing interior design licensure through NCIDQ examination.
Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office products.
Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Dynamo.
Foundational knowledge of design principles, practices, and current codes.
Foundational knowledge of construction documentation and familiarity with construction administration.
Foundational knowledge to select finishes and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
Strong communication skills for engaging with clients and internal teams.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to succeed in a collaborative environment.
No prior interior design work experience is required.
