About the Role
As we expand our AP1000™ program across the globe, we're looking for experienced individuals to join our mission. This role is important to ensure manufacturing feasibility, mitigate production risks, and secure supplier performance for one of the world's most advanced nuclear reactor designs. You will report to the Supplier Performance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site supplier oversight to ensure Westinghouse technical and quality requirements are achieved.
- Develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans to lead completion of critical document submittals, manufacturing activities, surveillance points, inspections, and tests.
- Coordinate activities of Westinghouse functions responsible for driving supplier performance.
- Promote prompt resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing communications, and identifying stakeholders.
- Monitor main supplier performance metrics to identify negative performance trends and implement corrective actions.
- Evaluate procurement risk and develop security of supply risk mitigation plans.
- Oversee internal and external corrective action requests.
- Perform technical evaluations of suppliers to assess manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, and compliance.
- Identify gaps between supplier evaluations and Westinghouse technical/quality requirements.
- Lead supplier development and qualification activities for new products, supplier improvement programs, and cost reduction efforts.
- Review and disposition supplier process documents, process capability analyses, and measurement system analyses.
- Work with Design Engineering to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements.
- Ensure the smooth flow of communication, both internal and external.
- Support implementation of Value Analysis / Value Engineering, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing principles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in heavy fabrication environments (including welding and machining of large mechanical components).
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles.
- Experience with manufacturing of large size steel components (low volume / dedicated specification), preferably pressure vessels.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., nuclear / aerospace).
- Experience with project management.
- Experience leading complex supplier engagements.
- Experience leading Supplier Development initiatives (Production Part Approval Process and/or New Product Implementation).
- Nondestructive testing/examination awareness (PT/UT/MT/RT).
