About the Role

Lead a team that builds tooling, standards, automation, and workflows to enhance the developer experience for approximately 100 engineers. Define and implement the AI-enabled development lifecycle strategy, accelerating engineering with AI-assisted tools while maintaining quality and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the developer platform strategy.
  • Own the roadmap for developer experience tooling across all Nuix engineering teams.
  • Build and maintain standardized repository templates with CI pipelines, testing frameworks, linting, security scanning, dependency management, and documentation scaffolding.
  • Design and operate the artifact repository strategy, including structure, retention, dependency proxying, and developer usability.
  • Drive automation for release notes and changelog generation using commit, branch, tag, and PR metadata.
  • Evaluate and introduce new tooling to improve developer flow, code quality, and delivery speed.
  • Ensure internal tools (source control, CI pipelines, code quality, artifact management, security scanning) are well-maintained, documented, and easy to use.
  • Own the AI-DLC adoption strategy, guardrails, and measurement across engineering.
  • Identify and pilot practical AI use cases: PR review assistance, test generation, defect triage, documentation generation, and developer workflow acceleration.
  • Establish governance for responsible AI use in engineering, including quality controls, security scanning, traceability, and usage guidance.
  • Partner with engineering leaders to scale successful initiatives and discontinue ineffective ones, using data to support decisions.
  • Champion engineering best practices by working with Engineering Managers and Architects to raise standards in branching, versioning, PR hygiene, dependency management, and documentation.
  • Promote shift-left quality by automating unit, integration, and security testing within delivery pipelines.
  • Reduce build instability, flaky tests, and delivery bottlenecks through improved tooling and clearer patterns.
  • Utilize DORA metrics and developer experience data to identify friction points and prioritize improvements.
  • Publish replicable patterns that teams can adopt without DevX involvement.
  • Foster a culture of self-service, enabling teams to build, test, release, and operate services without filing tickets.
  • Replace manual processes with self-service platforms, golden paths, and sensible defaults.
  • Support teams through documentation, enablement sessions, office hours, and practical guidance.
  • Make developer support proactive rather than reactive.
  • Strengthen release execution through better release orchestration tooling, deployment readiness checks, and feature rollout controls.
  • Improve traceability from code to production.
  • Partner with product operations to enhance the operational usability of engineering deliverables.
  • Lead a team of 2-4 DevX engineers, fostering growth in both DevX and DevOps domains.
  • Set priorities based on engineering pain points, strategic bets, and measurable impact.
  • Balance reactive support with longer-term platform investment.
  • Build strong relationships across engineering managers, DevOps, QE, Security, and Product Operations.
  • Create career pathways for senior ICs and individuals interested in people leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading platform, developer experience, DevOps, or engineering enablement teams in a software product company.
  • Strong hands-on background in CI/CD, repository management, artifact management, testing automation, and developer workflow design.
  • Experience with Jenkins (pipeline-as-code, shared libraries), Git-based workflows (Bitbucket or GitHub), Artifactory or similar artifact repositories, and code quality/security scanning tools (SonarQube, Mend/WhiteSource, or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of introducing internal developer platforms, standardized tooling, or golden path templates used by multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to influence across engineering functions without direct authority.
  • Ability to translate vague feedback into a clear, prioritized roadmap of platform and process improvements.
  • People leadership experience: coaching, career development, and performance management for small technical teams.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer, or similar) and governance considerations.
  • Terraform/IaC experience in a multi-account AWS environment.
  • Experience implementing and using DORA metrics to drive engineering productivity improvements.
  • Open source compliance and license governance experience.
  • Comfortable working across APAC and US timezones in a hybrid model.
  • Background in enterprise software, forensics, legal tech, or security products is helpful but not essential.
