About the Role

As a Sr. Line Cook, you are responsible for the daily preparation and cooking of food items in various kitchen stations, including food and final plate presentation, plating, and garnishing.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time.
  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Performs made to order cooking and grill cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers.
  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs.
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.
  • Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift food items and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • May clean and sanitize workstations and equipment and must follow all company, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Set steam tables; serve or ensure proper serving of food.

Requirements

  • Holder of valid and current Food Handler Certification
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • Ability to multi-task, work quickly, and effectively within a team
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively to staff, peers, managers, and guests
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work calmly and effectively under stress
  • Ability to take direction and work effectively in team environment
  • Problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized
  • Dedication to quality service and expectations
  • Must have an approved Food Handler’s Card and non-slip shoes prior to first day of work
  • Extraordinarily Service Oriented - high level of customer service is positively mandatory

  • Dynamic and agile - highly organized, ability to switch between locations and job duties
  • Previous Line Cook experience
  • 1-4 years high volume food service – preferably larger, innovative corporate programs
  • May also be food and beverage experience in a full-service hotel, resort, or multi-restaurant chain
  • Must be approachable with a service orientated mentality skills, displayed in experience in food, hospitality, and/or other service industries.
  • Communication skills are essential for this role in order to champion a healthy team environment and to interact with guests, leaders, vendors and employees.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic level knowledge of health and safety rules
  • Restaurant experience: 4 years (Required)
