About the Role
We are building robots for everyday life and are looking for exceptional talent to help bring home robotics to millions of households. You will own the teleoperation system end-to-end, working closely with mechanical, robotics, and software teams to ensure our robots can be operated to the full extent their hardware allows.
Responsibilities
- Build the operator's visual interface, including stereo video rendering, overlays for robot state and intent, and interface design for VR.
- Own the input layer, integrating and evaluating headsets, controllers, and leader hardware, and mapping input to robot capabilities.
- Drive retargeting to map operator motion to robot motion, respecting robot limits and preserving operator intent.
- Hide latency through prediction, local simulation, and interpolation to keep perceived delay below operator notice.
- Build shared autonomy to blend operator input with autonomous assistance for novice operators.
- Specify the operator station requirements for input rigs, displays, and ergonomics.
- Ship systems that operators use daily, ensuring a tight iteration loop for rapid research and real-world impact.
Requirements
- 3+ years in teleoperation, haptics, or closely allied control research.
- Interactive systems competence, with experience building VR, simulation, or game-engine software, or owning an operator-facing 3D interface.
- Depth in the delay problem, understanding passivity-based methods and system stability.
- Strong optimization-based control skills, including differential IK, QP formulations, and constraint handling.
- Systems fluency, with the ability to profile end-to-end pipelines and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Operator empathy, with a hands-on and empirical approach to system refinement.
