About the Role
This role is not a typical product design position. Responsibilities include crafting interfaces, untangling workflows, shaping policy, mapping systems, and writing clear communication. The designer will translate complexity into simple, clear, and human experiences, considering customer needs, brand identity, cardholder experience, and operational requirements. This involves designing systems and patterns and clearly explaining them for others to build upon. The designer will collaborate with Engineering, Product, Compliance, and operational teams, helping to define problems, iterate across mediums, utilize AI, and stay involved throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Design a system of components and flows for embedding in customer products across web and mobile.
- Design documentation, communication, and tooling to shape customer onboarding, support, and ongoing work with Cardless.
- Partner with Sales to create prototypes and demos for new ideas, and shape marketing materials.
- Partner with Engineering to create a great developer experience, including integration guides and playbooks.
- Embed within Support, Compliance, Fraud, Disputes, or Ops to design customer touchpoints, communications, processes, workflows, and internal tools, utilizing AI for prototyping and iteration.

- Strong product reasoning, knowing when to offer flexibility and when to take a clear position.
- Clear writing and storytelling skills to explain complex ideas simply.
- Ability to learn complex domains quickly and switch between different work modes.
- Technical curiosity and care for the developer experience.
- Exceptional visual craft that sets a standard for others.
- A desire to shape the future of design, particularly with AI.
- Experience using AI tools like Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code.
- Willingness to build missing tools, workflows, or systems.
