About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer with expertise in drainage and/or flooding to join our team in Rockhampton or Mackay. This role offers a broad opportunity for engineers with 5-15+ years of experience to work on diverse projects with major clients and contribute to a global leading consultancy.

Responsibilities

Provide technical inputs in the delivery of complex drainage and/or flood engineering projects across major infrastructure and development sectors.
Shape design approaches, solve complex drainage, hydraulic and/or hydrological challenges, and ensure high-quality, practical, and compliant outcomes.
Deliver drainage designs using 12D, prepare stormwater management plans, and perform hydraulic modelling.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, providing specialist input and mentoring engineers.
Contribute to project delivery, client engagement, and work-winning activities.
Provide specialized input into hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using programs such as Civil3D, 12D, TUFLOW, DRAINS, URBS, RORB, XP-Rafts and WBNM.
Develop practical and innovative solutions to complex drainage, flooding, and water quality challenges.
Write high-quality technical and non-technical reports.
Support project teams through technical guidance, mentoring, and quality assurance.
Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to provide trusted technical advice and contribute to winning work.
Ensure alignment with Australian standards and guidelines.
Contribute to technical excellence initiatives and stay current with emerging tools, methodologies, and regulatory changes.

Requirements

Recognised engineer in design delivery with a passion for technical excellence across multidisciplinary road, rail, defence, aviation, energy and large-scale infrastructure projects.
Proven Drainage/Flood Modelling industry experience (circa 5-15 years +).
RPEQ or ability to apply for RPEQ preferred.
Demonstrated experience in the planning, hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage networks, or hydrologic modelling and/or assessments.
Confident skillset in software usage, such as Civil 3D or 12d, and/or TUFLOW or similar hydraulic modelling tools, URBS and/or XP-Rafts or similar hydrologic modelling tools, QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
Strong technical capability across underground and surface water drainage systems.
Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership, design review and mentoring.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working directly with clients.
Commercial awareness and an understanding of successful project delivery principles.
