About the Role
Flexport is seeking a security engineer to advance its identity posture, build detections and guardrails, manage device policies, maintain the EDR stack, reduce SaaS risk, and automate corporate security functions. This role offers broad, real ownership with end-to-end project responsibility, impacting every Flexporter immediately.
Responsibilities
- Advance identity posture, including SSO coverage, phishing-resistant MFA rollout, SCIM lifecycle automation, and least-privilege access across SaaS and cloud estate.
- Build detections and guardrails to catch account takeover, MFA fatigue attacks, and session token theft.
- Write and ship device policy as code for macOS and Windows, including configuration profiles, remediation scripts, and enforcement rules with staged rollout and rollback.
- Maintain and improve EDR stack's detection and response coverage.
- Reduce SaaS risk at scale through SSPM tooling and automation, including detection of risky OAuth grants, shadow IT, and configuration drift.
- Own security configuration for critical SaaS tools like Google Workspace and Slack.
- Automate corporate security functions such as device provisioning, access reviews, and vendor security questionnaires.
- Write runbooks and documentation to enhance team capabilities.
- Partner with IT and People teams to implement controls that avoid user friction.
Requirements
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in corporate, enterprise, or IT security engineering.
- Hands-on experience with modern endpoint management and EDR tooling (Jamf, Kandji, Intune, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or similar).
- Working knowledge of identity protocols (SAML, OIDC, SCIM) and a major identity provider (Okta, Entra, Google Workspace, or similar).
- Comfort writing real code or scripts (Python, Go, or similar) to automate manual work.
- Clear, practical communicator capable of explaining control tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
- Experience with SSPM tooling and OAuth-grant governance is a plus.
- Exposure to DLP or insider-risk tooling is a plus.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for managing security configuration is a plus.
- A point of view on how agentic AI tools and MCP integrations change corporate security needs is a plus.
- Interest in growing into a broader corporate security or detection engineering scope is a plus.
